Swim Stroke 5
The streamline underwater from the wall should last longer. As you get tired it will be shorter of course. But work on pushing out (toward the other end of the pool) with your feet instead of pushing up to the surface. Remember your body always follows your head – its position determines whether your body is horizontal (head down) or more diagonal/vertical (head looking up). If it is a breathing issue (not enough air left to streamline for longer) then we need to work on lung capacity by doing more underwater lengths of the pool. Also toward the middle of the pool as you’re going away from me, you can also see again the “meandering” (I can’t think of a better word for this!). I *think* you were kicking more steadily in this video cuz you knew I was watching! But nevertheless the kicking looks better.

Swim Stroke 3
Likes: I like that you kept a normal side breathing pattern coming in the stroke instead of picking your head up. I also really like the burst of kicking off the wall. This is an absolute must! I also like that you did not breath immediately off the turn. Dislikes: The pulling pattern of your arms as you go into the turn.(the pseudo-breast stroke pull) And I can’t see very well what they are doing as you’re pushing off in this video. From this angle(as you go back down the pool after the turn) it also looks like you are meandering slightly as if you are thinking about changing direction but not. This is the first ive noticed this.

How do you swim a proper butterfly stroke?
I’ve been swimming for quite a while now, but nobody ever bothered to teach me how to swim butterfly. I want to compete in the 200yd IM next season, so I really want to learn now though. What are some tips and things to remember when learning?
