What are some exercises that wont cause too much knee pain?

Hello, thank you for everyone that is going to seriously help answer this. I am very ready to lose weight…I am obese and I have been working on doing Weight Watchers. I know that I need to work out to lose weight, the problem is that I already have bad knees from being overweight I assume. My knees hurt daily, from just being at work (I am always on my feet) I have tried different shoes but it hasn’t helped. For exercises I have tried the elliptical, stationary bike, treadmill, etc. I do love to swim but don’t have a pool, or the money to join a fancy gym with a pool. I’m not sure what else to do. I have thought about just doing whatever and try to deal with the pain but my knees end up in really bad shape and I don’t want to damage them. Some people have said to work on the diet first then start the exercise when I have lost enough weight, however I feel as though that will be too far away, and I am worried about my health…because of my weight. Any (serious) tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
