Extracurricular Activities: Benefits of Regenerating Lost Art

Reverse side of technological progress
The contemporary level of technological progress cuts both ends. It opens up a lot of new opportunities presupposing numerous challenges at the same time. For example, extracurricular activities are less popular among present day students than they used to be previously. Most young people give preference to computer games and Internet depriving themselves of opportunities of live communication and self-expression. At the same time benefits of participating in extracurricular activities are obvious and their significance should not be underestimated. For this reason, educators and parents should unite their efforts for regenerating the traditions of extracurricular activities, which are considered to be the lost art nowadays.
Despite all their advantages, social networks and computer games are harmful for students’ personal development. The most important disadvantage of computer games is insufficient physical activity. Spending too much time looking at a computer monitor could have negative impact on person’s health. Tearing themselves away from computers, young people might notice that this life is full of amazing things which were previously overlooked by them. Regenerating lost art of extracurricular activities would lower the students’ risk of becoming depressed.
Realizing importance of extracurricular activities
1. Participating in extracurricular activities could have a positive impact on one’s communicative skills and social status in a student community. It is advisable at least to try to get involved in college after-classes life.
2. Students should concentrate on their personal interests making a choice of extracurricular activities. It is important to decide on clubs providing opportunities for one’s personal development and improvement of one’s skills.
3. Learners might choose debate clubs aimed at deepening their knowledge as well as polishing up their practical skills. The fact is that extracurricular activities might be helpful for not only relaxing after classes but enhancing one’s proficiency at the same time.
